Firefighters were dispatched at 7:39 a.m. Monday to a report of insulation burning on the roof of Pyramid Manufacturing on the 3800 block of Illinois Avenue, according to the news release.
Within four minutes, fire crews were on the scene, where they found a fire burning on the roof surrounding an industrial vent stack, according to fire officials.
Firefighters got to the roof and put the fire out in about 20 minutes, fire officials said.
Employees at the manufacturing building had noticed the fire, activated a manual pull station and called 911 to give further information, according to fire officials.
Fire officials said the cause of the fire was accidental, and attributed it to combustibles being too close to heat. The estimated loss is $7,000.
