Two brothers were charged with drag racing Sunday afternoon on Aurora’s East Side.
Manuel Valdez, 25, and Martin Valdez, 19, both of the 100 block of Heathgate Road, Montgomery, each were charged with drag racing and reckless driving, both misdemeanors, after an Aurora police officer saw them driving in separate cars “at an extremely high rate of speed” at about 4:20 p.m. Sunday westbound on McCoy Drive near Inverness Drive, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email.
Manuel was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima and Martin was driving a 2000 Honda Accord, Ferrelli said. They identified themselves as brothers in a police report, Ferrelli said.
The officer traveled about 100 miles per hour in order to catch up to the pair near Fifth Avenue and Waterford Drive, where both cars pulled over, Ferrelli said.
