Three residents and three firefighters suffered minor injuries Sunday morning in a two-alarm fire in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

The fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m. in the 4700 block of West Huron Street, according to Chicago Fire Department Cmdr. Walter Schroeder.

Flames spread from one, fully engulfed 2 1/2-story apartment building to another building, displacing at least 12 residents.

Three adults suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital, Schroeder said.

Three firefighters, including a fire investigator who slipped on a patch of ice, suffered minor injuries in the aftermath of the fire and were also transported to a hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
