Kendall County Circuit Clerk Robyn Ingemunson has been charged with misdemeanor battery after an incident at a Yorkville restaurant, according to police.

Ingemunson, 49, of the 2300 block of Iroquois Lane in Yorkville, was charged with battery after an investigation regarding “an incident” that occurred shortly after 8 p.m. Dec. 21 at a restaurant on the 600 block of West Veterans Parkway, according to information from Deputy Chief Terry Klingel and a Yorkville police report released Thursday afternoon.

Ingemunson is accused of striking another woman in the head inside the restaurant, Klingel said. The woman, who police have not identified, was not injured, police said.

Klingel said investigators are still looking into the incident and whether it was captured on video.

Klingel confirmed Ingemunson’s identity as the Kendall County circuit clerk, an elected position.

Scott Gryder, Kendall County Board chairman, said because the charge is a misdemeanor and the clerk is a separately elected position, the county board doesn’t have the ability to make any decisions related to Ingemunson’s employment. The board oversees the clerk’s office budget but does not have control over hiring or firing within the department, Gryder said.

Attorney Lisa Accardi, who said she is representing Ingemunson “as it relates to any criminal matters,” said neither she nor Ingemunson had any comment on the battery allegation.

Ingemunson’s status is pending, according to the police report. She has been informed of the charge and given a notice to appear, but no warrant has yet been issued for her arrest, Klingel said.

The Kendall County Board in June 2015 voted 6-1 to approve Ingemunson as interim clerk effective that July 1, when she took over for Rebecca Morganegg, who retired as clerk. Ingemunson was then elected to the position in an uncontested race last March. She has worked in the clerk’s office since 2011, according to Beacon-News archives.
