An Aurora teen said he was shot at as he drove near a busy intersection on Aurora’s East Side, according to police.

The 17-year-old reported his driver’s side window was shot out about 8 p.m. Dec. 22 as he drove near Route 59 and East New York Street, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email Friday.

The teen didn’t call police until he drove home, to the 200 block of South LaSalle Street, Ferrelli said.

The teen supplied few details about the shooting and had no information about a suspect or other vehicle that may have been involved, Ferrelli said.

Police received no calls for shots fired during that time frame in the area, but two patrol officers said they heard shots fired around that time on the 400 block of Grant Street, Ferrelli said.

Police found no signs of a shooting there, Ferrelli said.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
