A 26-year-old Yorkville man has been charged with firing a gun from the second-floor balcony of his apartment Wednesday afternoon, according to police.

Adrian Jowers, 26, of the 1300 block of Marketplace Drive in Yorkville, has been charged with felony reckless discharge of a firearm in connection to the shooting at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, according to Yorkville police reports.

Police responded to the area for a report of a man shooting a gun from a second-floor balcony, according to reports. When officers arrived, they heard no sound of gunfire, according to the report. Evidence located at and around the scene led police to Jowers’ apartment, according to the report.

Police arrested Jowers without incident, according to reports. Police said they recovered one semi-automatic pistol and several fired shell casings from the scene.

No injuries were reported. Nothing was apparently struck by the gunfire, according to police.

Jowers was transported to the Kendall County Jail. His bail has been set at $35,000, according to online court records.

Jowers was a legal gun owner, said Yorkville police Deputy Chief Terry Klingel. In interviews with police, Jowers admitted to firing his gun and said he had been upset or angry about something but offered no specific details, Klingel said.

Jowers is next scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Jan. 12 in Kendall County.
