The (mostly pretend) war of the Chicago airports wages on with a new ranking from airport analysts that puts Midway ahead of O’Hare, yet again, when it comes to on-time air travel in 2016.
According to a Tribune report, Midway received an on-time ranking of 81.33 percent, coming in at No. 19 on air travel intelligence company OAG’s list of the Top 20 most punctual large airports—large as in hosting 10 million to 20 million departing travelers in a year. O’Hare ranked … none, because apparently it wasn’t worthy of making the Top 20. Pull it together.

O’Hare ranked 20th on the list last year with an on-time rate of 78.29 percent and was hailed as the “most improved airport in North America.” Apparently gone are its glory days, though. Midway was 12th in 2015, but we’re ragging on O’Hare right now, not focusing on Midway’s seven place drop.
O’Hare is also a hub for United Airlines, which ranked sixth on the list of most punctual carriers at 80 percent on-time departures. The airline also takes about 6 percent longer than its competitors, most notably Delta, which has an on-time percentage of 84.29 percent of flights.
Long story short: Don’t let long lines at security stress you out, ’cause you might be delayed anyway.
