Two cars left running unattended were stolen Tuesday on Aurora’s East Side, according to police.

A black 2011 Hyundai Sonata was taken at about 5 p.m. from in front of a home in the 500 block of Binder Street, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email. The car, which the owner said was worth $20,000, also had a wallet, cash and personal papers inside, Ferrelli said.

A short time after the car went missing, police officers saw the car driving on the Near East Side, but couldn’t get close enough to make a stop after the car took off, Ferrelli said. The car has Illinois plates E578794.

At about 7 p.m., a white 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix was taken from a driveway in the 200 block of Shadybrook Lane, Ferrelli said. The Pontiac plates are Illinois R619097.

Police have no suspects in either incident and ask anyone with information to call Aurora police investigators at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
