The cause of a small fire inside an Elburn barn Tuesday morning is under investigation, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to the structure fire at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday in the 3S500 block of Harter Road after a neighbor saw smoke and called it in, said Elburn Assistant Fire Chief Tate Haley. Initially, they responded mutually with the Kaneville Fire Department, Haley said.
Responding crews found the 80-by-100-foot pole barn full of smoke with a small fire inside on a piece of equipment but not involving the structure itself, Haley said. No animals or people were inside the barn when firefighters arrived, he said.
Crews had the fire out within 15 minutes and ventilated smoke from the barn, Haley said.
