Haha, what weekend?
What’s up: The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from noon Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday, meaning say goodbye to anything fun you possibly had planned for the weekend and boot up the Netflix.
Why you care: We could be looking at as much as eight inches of snow this weekend with the high on Sunday sitting at a balmy 2 degrees. Why do we live here?

Bye, bye, Barry
What’s up: President Obama gave his last press conference of 2016 today. No, we’re not crying, that’s just an entire tree in our eye.
Why you care: In the presser, the president discussed President-elect Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin, telling the latter to drop this hacking business. Better listen up, Vlad. He urged Trump to encourage bipartisan investigation into the Russian government’s meddling in the U.S.’s affairs.
Soundbite: “Not much happens in Russia without Vladimir Putin,” Obama said in the conference. The president said he had warned Putin there would be serious consequences if he did not “cut it out.” Can you tell he’s a dad?

Bear down and bundle up
What’s up: The Bears v. Packers game on Sunday at Soldier Field could be the coldest game the Bears have ever played in Chicago. At least you have your seething anger at how pathetically they play to keep you warm.
Why you care: You already know what a big deal the Bears-Packers rivalry is and the real feel of 20 degrees below zero will only up the ante—in that at least our tears will freeze before they leave our eyes.
Soundbite: “Any chance to beat the Packers is a good day,” said stalwart Bears fan and incredibly depressing optomist, Mohammed Mahmoud of Oak Forest. “If they have a chance to do that and ruin their playoff hopes, it’s sure to be fine by me.”

All we want for Christmas is this on repeat
What’s up: Christmas-hit queen Mariah Carey went on James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” and if you think this isn’t newsworthy, you’re wrong because it was fantastic.
Why you care: I don’t feel the need to justify this. Just go watch it.
