Dylann Roof gets convicted

What’s up: The gunman behind the slaughter of nine black church members in South Carolina, Dylann Roof, was convicted of his crimes today.

Why you care: The June 17, 2015 slayings occurred during a Bible study and Roof’s actions were self-described as racially motivated, with the prosecution arguing that Roof hopes his actions would incite a race war. The killings instead motivated the removal of the Confederate flag from the South Carolina Statehouse where it had flown for 50 years.

Soundbite: “Those people couldn’t see the hatred in his heart any more than they could see the .45-caliber handgun and the eight magazines concealed around his waist,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan Williams said in his closing argument.

What’s up: The Wrigley Rooftops, owned and operated by the Ricketts family, announced their pre-sale on Thursday, showing a 19 percent increase in tickets on average.

Why you care: In 2016, a ticket on the low-end for the rooftops on average would run you $65 before taxes. Now, a similar ticket would be $73. The most expensive tickets will be around $340. Alternatively, you could watch the game from the comfort of a bar or, you know, your own home.
