The cause of a house fire on Aurora’s West Side over the weekend is still under investigation.
Aurora firefighters had the Saturday morning house fire out in less than 30 minutes, leaving the house safe to live in, according to fire officials.
Aurora firefighters responded at 5:54 a.m. Saturday to the fire on the 1500 block of Hoyt Avenue, where they found smoke showing from a single-story, single-family home, according to a news release from Aurora Fire Department spokesman Cpt. Jim Rhodes.
A neighbor had called in the fire, which was located on the exterior of the home, according to the fire department. A dozen firefighters were involved in the effort to extinguish the fire, according to the news release.
No one was home when the fire started, and no injuries were reported to residents or firefighters. Fire officials estimated the total loss at $2,000 and said the house was deemed habitable.
