A 21-year-old Aurora man faces charges of drunken driving after a crash landed him and his passenger in the hospital.
Adrian Lopez, 21, of the 1500 block of Lincolnshire Avenue, was driving a 2002 Suburban Westbound on West Indian Trail Road approaching Nantucket Road about 9:54 p.m. Tuesday when he lost control and struck a tree on the south side of the road, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email.
Both Lopez and his 20-year-old passenger had to be extricated from the car and were both initially taken to Presence Mercy Medical Center, Ferrelli said.
The passenger was later airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove for further treatment, Ferrelli said.
Neither sustained life-threatening injuries, Ferrelli said.
Lopez has been charged with two counts of drunken driving, improper lane usage and illegal transport of alcohol, according to police.
