A 41-year-old Plano woman was knocked down trying to prevent a man from stealing her car, according to Aurora police.
The woman was not injured, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email.
The woman left her car running in the driveway of a food store on the 400 block of Plum Street in Aurora while she went inside the business, Ferrelli said. While paying for her items at about 12:55 p.m. Friday, the woman saw her car, a 2013 Ford Focus, backing up, Ferrelli said.
The woman ran outside and opened the passenger door to her car. A man in the driver’s seat quickly accelerated, knocking her to the ground, Ferrelli said.
The man kept backing up, struck a vehicle parked on Plum Street and took off westbound at a high rate of speed, Ferrelli said.
The woman was not able to provide a description of the man, Ferrelli said.
At about 1:43 a.m. Saturday, the Focus was found unoccupied and parked on the 800 block of Iowa Avenue. Police are processing the car for evidence, Ferrelli said.
