Police say three burglaries to vehicles parked in West Side driveways were probably related.

During the overnight hours of Thursday to Friday, Nov. 17 to 18, someone smashed in windows and snatched or moved around valuables that had been left in plain sight in parked vehicles, police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said in an email Monday.

Cash and a purse were stolen from a vehicle on the 300 block of Berwick Drive, Ferrelli said. In the 200 block of Carriage Hill Drive, items in a minivan, including a bank bag, were moved around, Ferrelli said. The minivan owner told police there may have been gift cards in the bag and that her daughter’s purse may have been taken, but she wasn’t sure, Ferrelli said.

Between 6:15 and 6:48 a.m. Friday on the 300 block of South Rosedale Avenue, someone called police after seeing a man walking between houses, hearing a crash, and then seeing the same man running from behind a house, Ferrelli said. Officers checking the area located a third vehicle that had been broken into, which a wallet was stolen from, Ferrelli said. The only description of that man, whose race is unknown, is that he was wearing all dark clothing, Ferrelli said.

The three West Side car burglaries are probably related, Ferrelli said.
