A woman injured in an Englewood neighborhood apartment fire in early October has died of her injuries, authorities said.

Evoughn Ware, 56, of the 6000 block of South Throop Street, was pronounced dead at 5:53 p.m. Friday at Stroger Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Ware died from thermal injuries suffered in a house fire in an accident, the office determined following an autopsy Sunday.

The fire took place early Oct. 2, according to authorities.

The fire in the multiunit building on South Throop began about 4:15 a.m., critically injuring one woman and injuring seven other people, said Officer Kevin Quaid, a police spokesman. Other than the woman, all those injured either were treated at the scene or treated and released from area hospitals, Quaid said.

At the time of the fire, police and fire officials were investigating the cause. While no updates on the investigation were immediately available Sunday, the medical examiner’s office determined Ware’s death was accidental, and police did not list the fire as an arson.
