The following items were discussed and/or action was taken at the village of Lincolnwood board of Trustees meeting Tuesday Nov. 15.

Alcoholic beverages to be allowed at fundraiser

Trustees green-lighted a request from the nonprofit Golf School District 67 Foundation to serve alcohol during the Trivia Craze fundraiser at the Lincolnwood Community Center on Dec. 3. Beer and wine will be sold at the event to raise funds for students supported by the foundation.

Permission from the village is needed to serve alcohol in the community center due to a provision in the village code prohibiting alcoholic beverages from being served and consumed in the building.

The village board has made similar exceptions in the past for other nonprofit programs that support local educational initiatives, including the Niles Township District for Special Education Foundation and the Maine Niles Association of Special Recreation organizations, village records show.

2017 meeting dates approved

The village board approved a resolution setting all village board and committee of the whole meeting dates for 2017.

Meeting dates for next year will be the same as past years, falling on the first and third Tuesday of the month with committee of the whole meetings starting at 6:30 p.m. and the full village board beginning at 7:30 p.m.

One exception in the meeting calendar is the April 5 meeting, which was moved to a Wednesday due to the election.

Airoom agrees not to expand building as part of plan to build parking lot

An agreement village officials recently made with Lincolnwood business owner Mike Klein to allow his home remodeling business Airoom to add parking spaces on a nearby side street moved forward during the Nov. 15 board meeting.

Trustees approved as part of the consent agenda a resolution prohibiting Klein from expanding his building into the vacated right-of-way on Keystone Avenue where he’s planning to construct a parking area for his customers.

The village board in the past two months approved two special use permits and seven zoning variations and allowed Klein to buy a vacated portion of Keystone Avenue to build a parking lot. Klein also plans to reconfigure the existing off-street parking area in front of Airoom, located at 6825 N. Lincoln Avenue.

Village hall to close for Thanksgiving weekend

Lincolnwood village hall will be closed Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25.

Next Village Board meeting scheduled

The next Village Board meeting will be held Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall, 6900 N. Lincoln Ave.
