An 86-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle last month in Oak Park has died, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Norbert Schroeder died Nov. 16 while in hospice care — more than a month after he suffered injuries in an Oct. 8 traffic accident in the intersection of Madison Street and South Oak Park Avenue. Oak Park police said he had been living in the 400 block of Oak Park Avenue.

Schroeder was struck by a motorist shortly after 9 a.m., according to Cmdr. LaDon Reynolds of the Oak Park Police Department. Reynolds said the driver stopped immediately after the accident and was cooperative with police. The driver was cited for driving without insurance, but no charges were filed in connection with the accident, police said.

The medical examiner’s office ruled Schroeder’s cause of death an accident on Nov. 17, and the office reported Schroeder died from complications due to multiple injuries suffered in the accident.
