A man was shot Monday night in Norwood Park during a robbery attempt, police said.
The 33-year-old victim was walking in the 7300 block of West Higgins Avenue near the Harlem Blue Line station around 8 p.m. Nov. 14 when he was approached by an unknown man who started a conversation with him, according to Officer Kevin Quaid, a spokesman for the Chicago Police Department.
The man pulled out a firearm and announced a robbery, demanding the victim’s belongings. The victim tried to get the gun away from the man when it discharged, and the victim was shot in the hand, police said.
The man ran, and the victim went to Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, where he was listed in good condition, Quaid said.
Police said none of the victim’s belongings were taken by the would-be robber, who was described by police as a man in his 20s wearing dark clothing.
