Teenage boys from Aurora and Chicago face felony charges in connection with a hit-and-run crash in a stolen car Tuesday morning that sent a 54-year-old woman to the hospital.
At about 7:10 a.m. Tuesday, Oswego police responded to Route 30 and Harvey Road for a reported hit-and-run crash, according to a news release from the police department. A minivan traveling northbound on Harvey Road had crashed head-on into a small SUV southbound on Route 30, according to police. The SUV driver, a 54-year-old Aurora woman, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
At the scene, witnesses described two males, about 16 to 18 years old, wearing hoodies and dark jeans, getting out of the minivan and running away, according to police.
The minivan had been reported stolen to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office earlier Tuesday morning, according to police.
Witnesses reported last seeing the teens heading northeast toward the Lincoln Station subdivision. Oswego police, with help from the Aurora police canine unit, began a search for the teens. Police dogs led officers north into Aurora, where police found two teens matching witness descriptions about three miles north of the crash site, according to Oswego police.
