Two men were killed and three others have been wounded in attacks across the city since Monday morning, Chicago police said.
The most recent fatal shooting happened about 1:45 p.m. on the West Side, in the West Humboldt Park neighborhood. A 22-year-old man was parking his car in the 900 block of North Kedvale Avenue when another vehicle pulled up alongside him and someone inside fired shots, police said.
He was shot in the head, his car hit another parked vehicle and the shooters fled north on Kedvale.
The man was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead. He was identified as Harry Cannon Jr., of the 3600 block of West Lexington Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
About 8 a.m. on the Far South Side, a man was fatally shot as he drove through the Longwood Manor neighborhood.
Taurus Williams, 41, was driving down the 9700 block of South Lafayette Avenue around 8 a.m. when he shot multiple times, according to police and the medical examiner’s office. He kept going and finally crashed near 100th Street and Wentworth Avenue.
Officers found him with gunshot wounds to the head, side and hip. Williams was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and pronounced dead. He lived in the 300 block of West 100th Street, according to the medical examiner’s office.
Non-fatal shootings:
About 8 p.m. on the Northwest Side, a 33-year-old man was shot during an armed robbery in the Norwood Park West neighborhood. He was walking near the 7300 block of West Higgins Road when someone approached him with a gun. After a short struggle, the man was shot in the hand, and the shooter left on foot. The 33-year-old man got himself to Presence Resurrection Medical Center in good condition.
About 4:20 p.m. on the West Side, a 19-year-old man was left in critical condition after he was shot multiple times in the 5700 block of West Augusta Boulevard. He was on the street in the Austin neighborhood when someone came up behind him and shot him multiple times in the upper body, then fled in a dark-colored vehicle. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital for treatment.
About 3:15 p.m. in the West Side’s Lawndale neighborhood, a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm. The man was shot in the 1400 block of South Trumbull Avenue and was in good condition after being taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment.
