Residents braved a blustery day to honor the village’s military veterans last week.

During the ceremony, which took place on Nov. 11, Franklin Park American Legion Post 974 posted its colors and performed the presentation of the American Flag. The event included a 21-gun salute and taps.

“On Veterans Day, we come together as a nation to salute and honor the service of all of our brave men and women in uniform,” Village President Barrett Pedersen said at the event. “We’re a grateful nation to all veterans who’ve sacrificed so much during time of war to keep our flag flying.”

“Remember how men and women set aside civil pursuits to serve their nation’s cause,” Legion Post Cmdr. Millie Gort said.
