Franklin Park will soon have a new Chipotle and T-Mobile store, which will be near a new Starbucks location that previously had been announced.

Glazier Construction broke ground on a new development project on the southwest corner of Crown and Mannheim roads on Oct. 31. Once construction is completed, the site is expected to feature a three-unit, 6,000-square-foot commercial building.

The new building will sit just north of the new drive-thru Starbucks coming to 2800 Mannheim Road next year.

“A groundbreaking was held last week to celebrate the start of the construction of Glazier’s retail development,” Trustee Karen Special said at the board’s Nov. 7 board meeting. She said Glazier recently purchased the 42,000-square-foot property from the village in order to build their retail center.

Construction will continue through the winter, weather permitting, and the new retail space is expected to open by next summer, Special said.

“[Glazier development company also] has a second village-owned site between Chase Bank and the future Starbucks site under contract for another commercial development,” Franklin Park Village Planner Zoe Heidorn said. Additional information regarding Glazier’s second development site in Franklin Park was not yet available.

And in addition to the new Chipotle and T-Mobile, Special also announced that the village recently hosted a groundbreaking of two new “industrial speculative developments” at 10501 Seymour Ave. One of the two buildings will have 367,000 square feet of industrial space, and the other will have 106,000 square feet. As of Monday, the two proposed industrial buildings had yet to find tenants to occupy them.
