A Metra Milwaukee District-West train hit a pedestrian Monday afternoon near Roselle, authorities said.

Inbound train No. 2242, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 4:49 p.m., hit the pedestrian, according to a Metra alert. The train made contact with a pedestrian near Park Street in Roselle, about a mile west of the Roselle station, just before 4 p.m., Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said.

“The train made contact with the pedestrian, that’s why it stopped,” she said. “Why the pedestrian was there, we don’t know.”

No further details were immediately available.
