A Weight Watchers business in Geneva is temporarily closed and directing clients to alternate locations after a car crashed into its building.
“Thanks to the 37 members who showed up for their meeting today!” Weight Watchers–Geneva posted to its Facebook page Thursday evening, the day of the crash. “Unfortunately a car hit our store front. No one was in the building, and thankfully no one was hurt!”
As of Tuesday, the Geneva location’s meetings were still being held elsewhere, according to the Facebook page. Morning meetings were held in South Elgin and North Aurora.
The crash wasn’t bad, with no injuries reported, said Geneva Police Department spokeswoman Cmdr. Julie Nash.
A 21-year-old St. Charles resident accidentally struck the building with a 2004 white Dodge Intrepid he was driving, apparently mistaking the gas pedal for the brake, Nash said. He drove off after the incident, but police later located and cited him for leaving the scene, driving with no license and lack of insurance, Nash said.
No one from the Geneva Weight Watchers returned a message sent Monday seeking comment.
