Three Aurora men are charged with felony burglary in connection with at least two thefts from a business in North Aurora.

At 10:15 a.m. Sunday, a North Aurora police officer saw a gray pickup truck pull behind a closed business on the 200 block of Poplar Place, according to a news release from the North Aurora Police Department.

Two men jumped a fence, took several large sheets of metal and slid them under the fence. From the other side, the third man loaded the metal sheets into the pickup truck, according to police.

The group drove away, and was stopped by police. During the following investigation, all three men were linked to similar thefts that occurred Oct. 2 at the same location, according to police.

The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office approved charges against all three men of a single count of theft, a class three felony, based on the value of what they allegedly took, according to police.

Charged are John. C. Parsons, 52, of the 900 block of Loucks Street; John D. Braaksma, 48, of the 1000 block of South Union Street; and Arthur D. Braaksma, 45, of the 1100 block of Watson Street.

The men all had a Monday morning bond hearing at Aurora Branch Court and are now in custody at the Kane County jail.

Bail for Parsons is set at $10,000. Bail for the Braaksmas is set at $15,000 each.

In 2010 in Kane County, Arthur Braaksma pleaded guilty to burglary and was sentenced to 60 days in county jail plus 30 months of probation and 300 hours public service, records show. In 2011, he was convicted of theft and sentenced to 180 days in county jail plus 30 months probation, records show.

His other past convictions include drunken driving in 2002 and possession of a controlled substance in both 2001 and 2012, according to Kane and Kendall county records.

Parsons’ past convictions include violating an order of protection in Kane County, records show. He has an open case in Naperville, where he is accused of deceptive practice in the form of bad checks over $150, DuPage County records show.
