The Maine South football team will head into the postseason next week with some momentum after a 52-7 Central Suburban South win at Evanston on Friday night.

The Hawks (6-3, 4-1) locked up a playoff berth by winning their sixth game of the season. Both Maine South and Evanston (6-3, 3-2) will learn their first-round opponent Saturday night.

Hawks senior quarterback Nick Leongas completed 6-of-10 passes for 141 yards and 2 touchdowns and rushed for a 60-yard score, junior running back Fotis Kokosioulis had a 65-yard touchdown run and junior safety Paul Sasso returned a punt for a 60-yard touchdown.

Maine South held Evanston bruising senior running back Ben Easington to 45 yards on 11 carries. In addition, Hawks senior cornerback Ryan Knapp had an interception.

“The defense brought it tonight,” Maine South coach Dave Inserra said. “I loved our hitting and energy.”
