Two men have been charged with felony robbery after shoving a 52-year-old woman to the ground and robbing her Tuesday morning in the West Ridge neighborhood on the North Side, police said.
Daijon Price, 22, of the 5200 block of South Michigan Avenue in Washington Park and Mike Freeman, 21, of the 2900 block of North Kildare Avenue in Hermosa, were taken into custody Tuesday after being identified as the men who robbed the woman in the 3000 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, police said in a news release.
About 9:38 a.m., Price and Freeman approached the woman, grabbed her and threw her to the ground, causing her to hit her head on the pavement, police said. They then forcefully took the woman’s purse from her before fleeing on foot, police said.
The woman alerted police, who saw Price and Freeman a brief distance away. After a short foot chase, they were caught and placed into custody, police said.
The woman suffered minor injuries and was taken to Swedish Covenant Hospital, police said. Her purse was found.
