A Hazel Crest doctor is accused of fondling a patient and exposing himself during an examination, according to Hazel Crest police.

Dr. Sheldon Levine, 75, appeared in Markham bond court after he was arrested Monday at his office at 17680 S. Kedzie, police said. Levine is charged with misdemeanor battery and public indecency, according to reports.

The arrest follow a similar complaint made by a 23-year-old patient who came forward, but later decided not to pursue charges, police said.

Levine allegedly made inappropriate contact with a 51-year-old woman during an office visit, reports said. During an exam, Levine exposed himself and tried to stop the victim from leaving the office, asking her not to report what happened to anyone, according to police.

Levine was released from custody after posting bail.

In February, the 23-year-old patient complained to police that Levine was sexually aggressive during a physical exam, according to reports. However, police said they were contacted during the investigation by an attorney claiming to represent both the woman and Levine, saying the patient “would not be proceeding with charges.”

Directory information for Levine’s Hazel Crest office lists it as permanently closed.

Levine returns to Markham court on Oct. 31.
