G. Grant Dixon is an attorney who practices and lives in La Grange.

Q: Where are your from?

A: I was born in Western Springs and lived most of my childhood there. I spent a little time living in Iowa and college in Indiana.

Q: What do you do?

A: I am a personal injury lawyer representing personal injury victims.

Q: What do you like about your job?

A: I meet people in the lowest point of their life and get to help them. I navigate the legal system for them to get them compensation for injuries that are life-altering and usually catastrophic. It is a lot of fun to help people turn things around. I get to make it right for them. Nothing is more satisfying than helping people get back up when they have been knocked down.

Q: Are you married?

A: I am married. My wife’s name is Susan and we have three kids from middle school through college.

Q: Why do you practice in La Grange?

A: I chose to set up my practice here because I wanted to be close to my family. Lots of other lawyers said I was crazy, that I had to be downtown. Being close lets me see my kids in the morning, I am home for dinner, and rarely miss a soccer game or swim meet.

Q: What is one of your volunteer activities?

A: I have been active in Western Springs Rotary for well over a decade and have been president of my club three times. My great-grandfather was one of the original eight founders of Rotary International so Rotary runs deep in my family line. I traveled to Ecuador a few years ago for Rotary to help dig a water well in the rain forest for a community there. It was an amazing experience.

Q:What is your favorite book?

A: I still read my Bible every day. I am always inspired, challenged and encouraged after reading it.

Q: What is your favorite movie or TV show?

A: I loved “Forrest Gump” and “Friends” was a great show. My youngest daughter is a fan of “Keeping up with the Kardashians.” While I am not a big fan, we watch it together and have some daddy-daughter time so that makes it worth it.

Q: What is your favorite food?

A: I love good Mexican food, particularly home-cooked Mexican food. I could eat it every night and never get tired of it.

Q: What was a recent vacation?

A: We just returned from Mackinac Island, staying at The Grand Hotel. We were there celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with lots of family. We have been going there for many years and have so many great memories of the hotel, the horses and the fudge.
