The following items were taken from the official reports and press releases of the Winnetka and Northfield police departments. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Winnetka

Theft

*Two women’s Schwinn bicycles were taken from an unlocked garage in the 200 block of Chestnut Street, according to a Sept. 5 report. The amount of loss is $450.

*Someone shattered a passenger side window of a vehicle parked in a parking lot in the 1300 block of Oak Street on Sept. 10 and took a Tory Burch tote bag containing a wallet, purse, cash and several pairs of glasses, according to police. The amount of loss is $2,309, and repair costs for the damaged window are unknown.

Fraud

*A resident of the 800 block of Glen Oak Drive on Sept. 10 reported that their personal financial information was used to open several retail credit card accounts and MasterCard accounts. An attempt was also made to open additional store accounts but was denied. The amount of loss is unknown.

*A resident of the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue reported on Sept. 7 that an unauthorized bank withdrawal and transfer of funds was made from their account without their permission. The amount of loss is in excess of $10,000.

Northfield

Property Damage

*A vehicle struck a wooden gate and behind it, an air conditioning unit and gas line, in the 300 block of S. Happ Road on Sept. 10 and then fled. The fire department responded to shut off the gas, pending repairs. The estimated property damage is more than $1,500.
