A 49-year-old Western Springs man faces misdemeanor charges for striking a wooden barricade that marked off a street where a block party was occurring in La Grange.
Terrence Labant, of 4825 Commonwealth Drive, was cited for reckless driving, driving without proof of insurance, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after he struck the barricade at 48th and Ashland avenues. The incident was reported at 9:19 p.m. Aug. 27.
“He hit the barricade. It’s not like he barreled through it,” said investigator Adam Coleman of the La Grange Police Department.
Coleman said Labant claimed he didn’t see the temporary barricade possibly because he was driving a small sports car.
According to the police report, Labant was driving a Porshe Carerra.
Coleman said one of the people at the party said that Labant came within a 1 or 2 feet of striking his young daughter.
Bond for Labant was set at $2,000 and he has an Oct. 13 court date.
