
Rosalia Ermitage, who works as a paraeducator at Lyons Township High School South Campus in Western Springs, answered questions while helping out at the school’s Freshman Experience.
Q: How long have you worked here?
A: 3 years
Q: Where do you live?
A: Brookfield
Q: What does your job entail?
A: We assist students with whatever needs they might have. Some of my students have more needs than others. I try to help them become more independent. I like to see them ask questions and become more engaged.
Q: Do you work one-to-one with students?
A: Mostly one-on-one. But sometimes I’m a classroom paraeducator and I help the teacher.
Q: How did you get your job?
A: I started subbing and working with students with different levels of autism and that segued into this job. I really enjoy working with kids and helping them succeed.
Q: What is your degree in?
A: English. From Eastern Illinois University.
Q: What is your favorite book?
A: “The Lovely Bones.” I am big on mystery novels and crime and forensics.
Q: What super power would you like to have?
A: To fly. It would be cool to see things from a bird’s eye view.
Q: What’s your favorite color?
A: Green.
Q: What is your pet peeve?
A: People who lie.

Q: Do you have any vacations planned?
A: No. But I used to frequent Sicily because I have family there. It’s really beautiful.

A: Yes. My husband’s name is Daniel and we have a 7-month-old daughter named Liliana.
