GT Prime, the steakhouse from Boka Restaurant Group that was first announced in January 2014, is finally ready to go. The restaurant (707 N. Wells St.) will open Sept. 6.
The menu, from Giuseppe Tentori of GT Fish & Oyster, is a departure from the traditional steakhouse, in that you’re not ordering a slab of beef; instead, you order in 4- or 8-ounce portions, and the meat arrives sliced, making it easy to share. You can try several types. The six cuts include wagyu sirloin, bison filet, rib-eye and venison loin.
There are also plenty of options besides straight-up meat. The menu is divided into sections including “cold,” “hot,” “vegetables” and “fish,” with dishes ranging from grain salad to pasta to stuffed quail pot pie.
The design, by Karen Herold of Studio K Creative (also behind GT Fish, Girl & the Goat, The Betty and more), is absolutely stunning, with charcoal-colored wood, fur-tufted bar stools and playful taxidermy that makes you feel as if you’ve wandered into a fairytale cabin in the woods.
Reservations are live as of 10 a.m. today. Make them here.
