This weekend’s hitlist runs the gamut, from a do-good barbecue to a vegan pie party.
1. Soak up the sangria
What is summer if not for sangria? Celebrate the seasonal beverage at the inaugural Sangria Festival at Humboldt Park’s National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture. Tickets include two tasting samples, plus seating on the lawn to listen to live reggae, Flamenco and more. Sample food from pop-up stations. $18 general admission; $55 VIP. 2. Barbecue for a cause

Join the Chicago Women’s Brigade, a group started by chefs Abra Berens (Local Foods) and Sarah Rinkavage (Lula Café) to celebrate Chicago’s female culinary talent, at Big Star’s last music and grilling event of the summer. Dubbed Girls Grills Grills, Big Star chef Julie Warpinski will be joined by top female chefs and mixologists to serve food and cocktails (priced a la carte), with proceeds benefiting Growing Power, a non-profit that makes affordable, healthy meals accessible to all communities. 3. Eat more pie

Vegan restaurant Kitchen 17 and vegan bakery Pie, Pie My Darling! team up this weekend for an event they’ve billed “Pie-apalooza,” an extravaganza of vegan desserts. Order pie by the slice ($5) or pick up a miniature pie ($12) in flavors like key lime, caramel peach crumble and triple berry. 4. Party in Greektown

Opa! Entering its 27th year, Taste of Greektown returns to serve up all things Hellenic this weekend. The neighborhood’s restaurants anchor this lively fest, which celebrates Mediterranean cuisine and culture up and down Halsted Street. Don’t miss fare from Zeus, Santorini, Roditys and more while taking in music and games, plus this year’s all-new gyro eating contest. 5. Celebrate beer and beats

Head up to Ravenswood for an RSVP-required vinyl record market hosted by microbrewery Aquanaut Brewing Company. All ages are invited to shop the wares from area record vendors like Raffe’s Record Riot, Groovy Tunes and more, but an ID is required to sample Aquanaut’s suds.
