A man stole a car with a 3-year-old boy inside on the North Side early Tuesday and dropped off the boy in his car seat downtown, police said.
About 4:55 a.m., a 39-year-old man left his car running while he was delivering papers in the 4100 block of North Marine Drive in the Buena Park neighborhood when he saw a white Nissan pull up behind his car, according to police.

A white man, 20 to 25 years old, came out of the Nissan, got inside the victim’s vehicle and fled with the white Nissan driving behind him.
A 3-year-old boy was inside the stolen vehicle. Shortly after, the boy was found in his car seat in the 200 block of West Superior Street, five miles away from where the carjacking occurred, police said.
The child was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition and reunited with his family.
No other information was immediately available about the incident.
