Miles Teller is suddenly everywhere. He’s been on the scene for over half a decade, but it seems like after his impressive turn as an ambitious drummer in 2014’s “Whiplash,” the 29-year-old actor became a brand name overnight.

His latest project, “War Dogs,” opens this Friday, and though Teller has prestigious films, bro comedies and a superhero movie under his belt, he’s a long way from being totally established in Hollywood. Luckily, he can take a page from the books of either of his “War Dogs” co-stars, Jonah Hill and Bradley Cooper, who know a thing or two breaking their own molds and demanding to be taken seriously.

Here are Miles Teller, Jonah Hill and Bradley Cooper’s movies plotted on a comedy to drama (left to right) spectrum over the years (bottom to top).

Miles Teller

Shortly after graduating from New York University’s Tisch School for the Arts in 2009, Teller appeared opposite Nicole Kidman in “Rabbit Hole” (for which she’d receive an Oscar nomination). Since that strong start, he’s most often played the role of slightly jerkish, bumbling dude, with a notable exception in “Whiplash.”

Jonah Hill

Hill started out as the funny fat kid, with slight variations. He was nerdy and uptight in “Accepted” and then outrageously inappropriate in “Superbad.” But when he landed a role in “Moneyball” and received an Academy Award nomination, people started taking him more seriously. Since then, Hill has alternated between more respected films (“Wolf of Wall Street” and “Hail Caesar”) and the more comedic material he was originally known for (“21 Jump Street” and “Sausage Party”).

Bradley Cooper

A pretty boy who got his original start in TV (“Sex and the City,” “Alias”) Cooper soon got typecast as the attractive asshole, whether playing the jerkish fiance in “Wedding Crashers” or the cheating husband in “He’s Just Not That Into You.” He leveraged that persona in “The Hangover” (and its sequels) to become a leading man, finally getting top billing on movies like “Limitless” before making the transition into more prestigious films. He received Academy Award nominations for “Silver Linings Playbook,” “American Hustle” and “American Sniper” and is now definitely your mom’s biggest celebrity crush.
