It’s finally here: Revival Food Hall, the highly anticipated destination food court by the 16″ on Center crew will begin serving guests Thursday at 7 a.m.

A gilded addition to the Loop dining scene, Revival is Chicago’s latest “food hall” concept, joining the ranks of Latinicity and Eataly as a much-needed upgrade from typical shopping mall food courts.

Revival has collaborated with some of the city’s best names on fast-casual but high-quality to-go stands: James Beard Award winner Mindy Segal lends her pastry skills to a cafe; Furious Spoon and Budlong Hot Chicken spice things up with their signature fare; outposts of Aloha Poke, Smoque and Fat Shallot expand the reach of already-buzzy crowdpleasers; and more. For a full list of Revival’s offerings, see our previous coverage.

Revival sits on the ground floor of The National, a Daniel Burnham-designed building that opened in 1907 as the Commercial National Bank of Chicago. The food hall celebrates the building’s history with modern touches harking back to its turn-of-the-century past. Smoky mirrored columns line the space’s main avenue, lit by globed lights and silver-tipped bulbs, while the 40-seat communal table that anchors the cafe and bar space is repurposed from a board room table from Chicago Public Schools, which used to be headquartered in the building.
