A 26-year-old motorcyclist died after crashing into a car Sunday evening in the Brainerd neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.
The crash happened around 9:40 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 95th Street, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.
A 26-year-old man was riding a motorcycle at a high rate of speed west on 95th Street when a vehicle going west made a left turn at an intersection. The man then struck the vehicle, Gaines said. Witnesses told police the man was looking at his cellphone as he was riding his motorcycle.
The 26-year-old, identified as Britton A. Hopps of the 1600 block of West 92nd Place, was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m. at the scene, Gaines said.
No other injuries were reported, and no other information was immediately available.
