A Grand Crossing fire damaged three buildings, hurting two firefighters and forcing 11 people to be displaced early Monday, Chicago police said.

The blaze started about 1 a.m. at a vacant building in the 7600 block of South Drexel Avenue and spread to two other buildings, said Officer Ron Gaines, a police spokesman.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, and 11 people were displaced by the fire, according to the Chicago Fire Department media officials.

The blaze was extinguished around 3 a.m.

The cause is still being investigated, and no other information was immediately available.
