Christian Muratalla, 21, of Chicago, took a break from serving folks at The Trendy Taco, 1195 Wilmette Ave., to talk about fish, art, and the vegetable he does his best to avoid.
Q: Do you have a pet?
A: I have fish. Or rather, my parents have them, so I decided to add something to the tank. I got a very small aquatic frog. I didn’t name it.
Q: As a kid, what was the first thing you wanted to be when you grew up?
A: I wanted to grow up to be an artist. It’s still a passion of mine. At home I have three sketchbooks I work on. I like doing portraits.
Q: What’s one food they couldn’t pay you to eat?

A: Vegetables. That’s easy. Broccoli is the worst. I think it’s the texture of it. But I do like my mom’s potato soup!
Q: What would you be most afraid of: heights, the dark, or bees?
A: I’m not afraid of heights – but I am afraid of falling, so I guess you could say heights. I like the views you get from far up, but I just don’t like to actually get up there. I just don’t want to fall.
Q: And at the end of a long day, what is your favorite way to relax?
A: I think that it would definitely be to sit down with my sketch pad and work on my art, with some music playing in the background. I like music that tells stories, but I also like a lot of instrumental music, like guitar music.
