It seems like just yesterday that *NSYNC was sweeping the nation as part of the late ’90s boyband craze. But it wasn’t. It was 20 years ago. And now, just to drive that fact viciously into our hearts, they’ve reunited for J.C. Chasez’s 40th birthday.
Yes, 40. In an Instagram post shared on Justin Timberlake’s account, the former boyband—including Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick (the weird one with the ponytail)—came together to celebrate the fact that the inarguably hottest member of the bunch (sexy never left, JT) was now almost half a century old.

As every former ’90s boyband fan can tell you, the band went into hiatus after finishing up their “Celebrity” tour in 2002—never good news, as Harry Styles can now attest. The group then suffered a slow, drawn out and very painful death.
The last time the group was this publicly gathered was the 2013 Video Music Awards to honor Timberlake’s Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, which really just looked like JT surrounded by a bunch of sad dads. We’re glad to see them all looking a little more spirited this time around.
