With 90 days (or an entire quarter of a year) left in this election cycle, the intensity is ramping up. And by “intensity,” I mean, “threats of imminent bodily harm.”
At a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina on Tuesday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told the crowd of his concern about a possible Hillary Clinton presidency.
After warning the crowd that he reckoned Democratic candidate Clinton would “abolish the second amendment,” Trump warned the crowd of what he saw as the implication of Clinton being able to pick Supreme Court justices and offered a solution, saying, “By the way if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the second amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”
Trump’s camp released a statement shortly thereafter, entitled, “TRUMP CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON DISHONEST MEDIA.” The statement contained a quote from Trump’s Senior Communications Advisor, Jason Miller, stating that Trump wasn’t referring to guns in his quote, but rather the “power of unification.”
Miller said that supporters of the Second Amendment “have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power.” Well, that and guns. They also have guns.
