A bank in Elmwood Park was robbed Aug. 2. The incident happened at about 4:45 p.m. at the U.S. Bank branch, 7312 W. Grand Ave., according to the FBI.
A man walked into the bank and gave a note to the teller, Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano said. The man never said a word, and the teller complied with what was written on the note and gave the suspect an unspecified amount of currency. The robber is described as being about 48 years old with black hair and wearing dark sunglasses, a long-sleeved blue shirt and dark jeans, the FBI said.
The FBI performed an audit of the amount that was stolen from the bank but the information was not immediately available, police said.
“We are thankful no one was injured and that the bank’s staff did what they were trained to do,” Fagiano said. “That no one was hurt is the most important thing.”
He said the man was last seen leaving the bank, walking east on Grand Avenue, to get onto a bus. Elmwood Park police are assisting the FBI, which is taking the lead in this investigation.
