Everyone knows the days of summer are not infinite, but attendees at La Grange’s annual celebration of the season weren’t thinking much about that. They were focused on having fun in the sun — while it lasts.

Thousands turned out for Endless Summerfest, a three-day festival held Friday through Sundayat Gordon Park.

There was plenty of fun to be had, including enjoying music and food, careening through the sky in a carnival ride, or watching players holding long bars while trying to kick a soccer ball into a goal in a human foosball tournament.

This was the festival’s third year. Despite the large attendance that it attracts, Nancy Cummings, executive director of the business association, said Endless Summerfest maintains a small town feeling where residents are likely to run into friends at the beer tent or while watching a band perform.

“It’s very much a neighborhood festival where you get to see people you know,” she said.

One of the highlights was a human foosball tournament, which was sponsored by the La Grange Memorial Hospital Foundation.

The money raised from the tournament will go to support nursing education, said Brett Skeen, executive director of the foundation.

“We’re on a huge journey right now toward magnet status and education is an important component of that,” Skeen said.

Magnet status is an award given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is considered an elite designation, Skeen said..

The weekend also featured a range of live entertainment including Big Wheel, 16 Candles, School of Rock, The Millennials, American English, Hairbangers Ball, The LaMantia Brothers, Timeless, Mason Rivers and Libido Funk Circus.

The festival concluded with a bang in the form of a fireworks display.
