“Empire” star Terrence Howard is being taken to court by his old talent manager over claims that he breached an oral contract by failing to pay post-termination commissions.

The complaint was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court by Howard’s former talent management firm, Authentic Talent and Literary Management. The company claims that Howard owes them several hundreds of thousands of dollars, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

In the complaint, Authentic Talent claimed the actor confirmed multiple times, including in a September 2014 email, that he would pay post-termination commissions.

The company also claims it played an important role in the resurgence of Howard’s career after the actor hired the company in 2013, which included securing Howard’s role as Lucious Lyon on Fox’s “Empire” and saving Howard’s job when executives at Imagine Entertainment wanted to terminate him.

Attempts to reach representatives for “Empire” and Howard were not returned. Season three of “Empire” is set to debut Sept. 21.
