A flash-flood watch for northeastern Cook County expired at 10:30 p.m. after thunderstorms went through the area Sunday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

Up to around 1.5 inches of rain fell in parts of the Chicago area, which already received between 2 and 3 and 1/2 inches of rain Saturday, according to officials with the weather service.

The thunderstorms came in with wind gusts of up to 58 miles per hour, causing trees to fall and other storm damage throughout the area, said Mark Ratzer, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

The North Branch of the Chicago River rose to 6.1 feet, which is just at the bank level, near Albany Avenue in Albany Park, he said.

“There was spotty wind damage,” Ratzer said. “But overall, it wasn’t too bad.”

Locations that were affected by the storm include: Chicago, Cicero, Evanston, Skokie, Des Plaines, Berwyn, Oak Park, Park Ridge, Maywood, Morton Grove, Franklin Park, Forest Park, River Forest, Harwood Heights and Niles.
