While out on bail awaiting trial in 2013 for the date rapes of two women he met online, a former public relations executive allegedly sexually assaulted a woman he followed out of a Near North Side bar, prosecutors said Friday.
Ignacio Carrillo, 41, who is serving 18 years in prison for two sexual assaults of women he met on an online dating site, was charged after his DNA, collected after his convictions, was matched to the 2013 assault.
Prosecutors, who have called Carrillo a predator, had previously presented evidence he had sexually assaulted another woman while out on bail after she responded to his online apartment rental ad. No charges were filed in that case.
“It’s disgusting and disturbing,” that woman said about the new allegations that Carrillo raped yet another woman while out on bail. The Tribune is not naming the woman because she’s an alleged sex assault victim.
The woman, who is studying to be a social worker, said she remains traumatized by the attack and is extremely cautious around men.
Carrillo was out on bail in January 2013 when he sat down next a 28-year-old woman at a Near North Side bar and began talking to her, said Assistant State’s Attorney Erika Gilliam-Booker. The woman felt uncomfortable and decided to leave the bar for another public place “where she would feel safe,” Gilliam-Booker said.

As she walked away, Carrillo followed her and shoved her into a “dark secluded area” and sexually assaulted her, she said. The woman struggled and was eventually able to break free.
She reported the rape to her boyfriend and the police the same day. The woman also went to Northwestern Hospital where a rape kit was conducted, the prosecutor said.
Carrillo was convicted in December 2014 of sexually assaulting a woman he met on the dating website Plenty of Fish. The woman testified at trial that she became disoriented after drinking only a glass of wine and a single shot before being raped in a Lincoln Park hotel.
He was charged in that attack after a second woman came forward, alleging Carrillo had sexually assaulted her in 2011. The woman testified that Carrillo poured what he said was olive juice in her drink and became angry when she took only a sip.
Carrillo later raped her against the passenger-side door of his Porsche convertible in a parking garage before driving her home. After his jury conviction in the 2009 attack, he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting the second woman in 2011.
DNA collected from Carrillo after his conviction matched evidence collected from the 2013 assault, the prosecutor said. On Tuesday, he was moved from prison to Cook County Jail, and the next day the alleged victim “tentatively identified” him as her attacker, Gilliam-Booker said.
