Chicago native Ike Barinholtz will play the role of a prison officer in the upcoming “Suicide Squad” film, a new trailer reveals.

Barinholtz banters with Will Smith in prison in a trailer posted Tuesday by Warner Bros. Smith plays Floyd “Deadshot” Lawton in the supervillain flick.

Barinholtz, who grew up in Lakeview, described his “Suicide Squad” role in an interview with the Tribune in April.

“It’s a very different side of me that you haven’t seen on ‘The Mindy Project’ or ‘Neighbors,'” he said.

“Suicide Squad,” due out in Aug. 5, is a superhero film based on the DC Comics antihero team of supervillain characters such as The Joker (Jared Leto) and Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) from the Batman series.
