An alleged gang member was charged Wednesday with firing at two men on Chicago’s North Side in March, a shooting that was captured on surveillance video.

Anthony “Ant” Stephenson, 39, of the 5000 block of North Lincoln Avenue, allegedly fired a semi-automatic handgun with an extended magazine at two males in the 7700 block of North Paulina Street on March 22, according to a police report of the incident. He is a self-admitted Gangster Disciple, according to the report.

Stephenson is on parole, according to the report, and turned himself in to police headquarters July 18. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon/aggravated discharge of a firearm and with being an armed habitual criminal.
Stephenson has an extensive criminal background dating to the 1990s, including convictions for armed robbery, unlawful use of weapons and drug possession, according to court records.
Judge Donald Panarese Jr. set his bail at $500,000, according to court files.
